Tambour Beading & Embroidery - Level 1 Basics:

Course content:

This day course will give you an introduction to the techniques of couture tambour beading and embroidery. Space is limited to 4 students max.

Tuition: $425 (embroidery frame, tambour needle, & supplies included)

Date/Time: Weekend sessions from 10:00 - 4:30 with 1 hour Lunch break (lunch not provided)

Location: Private Studio - Lynnwood, WA

You will learn:

  • How to correctly mount fabric into an embroidery frame prior to tambouring
  • How to embroider onto transparent and opaque fabrics
  • Methods of transferring designs onto fabric
  • How to work the tambour stitch using thread, and how to work the stitch in all directions
  • How to apply beads of various sizes
  • How to apply sequins, including the techniques of scaling and spotting

We recommend that you then practice your tambour for some time, to build up the speed and regularity of your stitch. 

Tambour Beading & Embroidery - Level 2 Intermediate:

Course content:

This day course will teach you the intermediate level techniques of couture tambour beading and embroidery. Students must have already completed the Tambour Embroidery & Beading Level 1 Basics, or equivalent. Space is limited to 4 students max.

Tuition: $350 (supplies included) or $425 (embroidery frame, tambour needle, & supplies included)

Date/Time: Weekend sessions from 10:00 - 4:30 with 1 hour Lunch break (lunch not provided)

Location: Private Studio - Lynnwood, WA

You will learn:

  • How to use draw-back stitch to:
    • achieve a crisp directional change.
    • make embroidered motifs.
    • make straight and curving designs and edgings.
  • Bricking Stitch - the professional way to apply bugle beads
  • Picot Stitch - this can be used as an edging or as a three-dimensional accent in a design.
  • ‘Verm’ - the skillful execution of this filling stitch is very important to give the professional finish required in couture work.
  • How to tambour beaded loop fringing.
  • The essentials of designing for tambour beading          

We recommend that you then practice these techniques for some time. You will then be ready to advance onto:

Tambour Beading & Embroidery - Level 3 Advanced:

Course content:

This 2 day course will teach you the advanced level techniques of couture tambour beading and embroidery. Students must have already completed the Tambour Embroidery & Beading Level 2 Intermediate, or equivalent. Space is limited to 4 students max.

Tuition: $700 (supplies included) or $775 (embroidery frame, tambour needle, & supplies included)

Date/Time: Weekend sessions from 10:00 - 4:30 with 1 hour Lunch break (lunch not provided)

You will learn:

Day 1:

  • Using a combination of tambour stitches, how to work:
    • cutwork designs
    • applique designs
    • shadow work designs
    • scrunched sequin texture

Day 2:

  • How to work:
    • passementerie style designs using couching
    • trapunto technique
    • padding & quilting techniques
  • Aari beading
